『택시 기사가 만난 세계인』은 국제 택시 기사로 재직하는 저자가 길 위에서 만난 세계 사람들의 사연을 따스하게 풀어낸 책이다. 1부에서는 한국을 찾은 가족들의 이야기를, 2부에서는 각양각색의 사연으로 한국을 찾은 이들을 조명했다. 마지막 부록은 저자 자신이 외국인이 되어 찾은 도시와 나라를 그렸다. 저자는 사진을 통해 그들의 생생히 빛나는 표정을 포착하는 한편 한국에 오게 된 사연에도 주목한다. 간결한 문장 속에, 한 컷의 사진 속에 고스란히 녹아든 그들의 이야기들은 차곡차곡 쌓여 한 권의 책을 이룬다.

평범하지만 특별한 이들의 이야기는 읽을수록 울림이 있다. 우리 자신을 닮아 있는 까닭이다. 설렘과 기쁨, 질곡 많은 사연까지 고스란히 담아낸 이 책을 통해 한국을, 그리고 한국을 찾은 이들을 다시 한번 바라보는 계기를 만나기를 바란다.

지은이 황성규는 시인으로 살고 싶은 소망을 가슴에 품은 채 Tnews의 기자로 활동하면서 현재 인터내셔널 택시를 운전하고 있습니다. 한국을 방문한 외국인들에게 한국의 아름다운 문화와 역사를 설명하고 알리는 일에 만족하고 보람을 느낍니다. 닮은 듯 다른 그들의 이야기 중 가슴이 뭉클하고 감동적인 내용을 엮어 책으로 만들어 보았습니다.
